  • One teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 pound of sugar (powdered)
  • 1/2 cup of finely chopped nuts and pecans (optional)

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
  2. Next, blend the flour, salt, and sugar in a large bowl. Stir till combined properly and keep away.
  3. Mix buttermilk, vanilla, baking soda, and eggs individually in a different bowl and stir using a fork and keep aside.
  4. Melt butter and cocoa powder in a medium saucepan. Whisk together and combine. At the same time, bring a cup of water to a boil. When the butter has melted, pour the boiling water into the saucepan. Leave to bubble well and turn off the heat.

  • 1/2 cup toasted pecans (finely chopped)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter and spread flour a 9-inch x 13-inch pan.
  2. In a medium-size bowl, mix baking soda, flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder.
  3. In the bowl, of a stand beater fitted paddle attachment, beat butter until light and fluffy 3-4 minutes. Add sugar, beat for 2 minutes. Next, add vanilla extract. Add eggs into the mixer, one at a time, and beat for 2 mins extra.
  4. Add your flour mixture and your buttermilk simultaneously, starting and finishing with the flour mixture. After all, ingredients are mixed together, very carefully add the hot water to the batter and stir until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into your prepared pan. Thump on the counter once to release any trapped air bubbles.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes–or until a tester comes out clean.
  7. While the cake is still baking, make your frosting. Melt the butter over medium to low heat. Add the cocoa powder and beat until soft and smooth. Next, add the milk and the vanilla, whisk again.   • Two sticks or 1 Cup of Butter
  • 4 Tablespoons of (heaping) Cocoa Powder

  • 18 complete Hershey’s Kisses (unwrapped)
  • Canned Pitted Cherries

For the frosting:

  • 8 ounces of weight Bittersweet Chocolate
  • 1 cup of Heavy Cream
  • 6 Tablespoons of Corn Syrup
  • Two teaspoons of Vanilla Extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 18 muffin cups with baking spray.
  2. To make the cake dough, blend flour, sugar, and salt. Set away.
  3. In a separate vessel, combine buttermilk, eggs, baking soda, and vanilla. Stir to mix and set aside.
  4. In a saucepan, soften butter over mid-heat. Combine cocoa powder and stir to mix well. Add boiling water into the mixer, allow to bubble for a few seconds, then turn off the heat.
  5. Pour chocolate mixture over previously made flour mixture. Blend a few times to cool the chocolate. Pour buttermilk mixture over the top and stir to combine.
  6. Drain 1/4 cupcake dough into each muffin cup. Quickly set one kiss in the middle of each cupcake; do not press down.
  7. Alternately, you can add three canned, pitted cherries to each muffin cup before adding the batter.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes. Leave to cool for 5 minutes in the pan, then transfer cupcakes and allow to cool on a baking rack.
  9. To make the frosting, heat cream and corn syrup over medium heat. Then cut the chocolate and add it to a bowl. Add vanilla to cream mixture, then pour cream mixture over the top of the chopped chocolate. Whisk together until melted, smooth, and glossy.
  10. Dunk cupcakes in the frosting. Leave to cool and set before serving.
